Celebrating British spirit: Burberry's photography exhibition at Old
Celebrating all things British, the temporary photographic exhibition features over 200 photographs from 30 British social and documentary photographers working predominantly in post-war Britain. The earliest work on display – and it is a vintage beauty – is Bill Brandt’s York Villa Bath, 1935.
A new photography exhibition dedicated to the ‘British way of life and character’ is set to open in London next month. The Burberry-hosted show, titled Here We Are, will feature work from the most celebrated photographers of the last century. Burberry has long positioned itself as a brand synonymous with Great Britain. To celebrate London Fashion Week, it has curated an exhibition of photographs by some of the UK’s finest documentary photographers in a grand Grade II-listed building in Clerkenwell. Burberry’s new Sloane Street flagship store – a paean to the house codes and a monumental brutalist-meets-modernist architectural feat – is proof that, while online retail might be booming, there is nothing quite like a bricks-and-mortar luxury fashion experience. The show kicks off on 18 September, just before London Fashion Week, at Burberry’s new show venue in London’s Clerkenwell. Perfect if you’ve got time to kill between shows. Or outside of shows.
Burberry is hosting a major photography exhibition exploring the British way of life and character in London until 1 October.Spanning three levels at Old Sessions House, the exhibit will feature captures across several themes showcasing a particular British lifestyle trait from photographers such as Shirley Baker, Ken Russell, and a special exhibition of 70 pieces from McLellan himself.
